Ayomide Adeleye, who murdered Christiana Idowu of FUNAAB killed his first victim when he was 15 years old. His victim back then was a 14-year-old he sexually assaulted.
The Nigerian Army handed over Adeleye, 23 to the Lagos State Police Command on Thursday for killing a 300-level student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Idowu Christiana.
On 19 August 2024, Christianah Idowu, a third-year student at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, travelled from Ita Oluwo to the University of Lagos in Yaba for her industrial training.
As it began to rain heavily, she sought shelter in a shop owned by the family of Ayomide Adeleye, a second-year Philosophy student at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State.
Ayomide invited Christianah into his house when the rain intensified. Once inside, he attempted to assault her, but she resisted. In a fit of rage, he killed her. Later that evening, at 8:50 pm, he used Christianah’s phone to send a message to her mother, claiming she had been kidnapped and demanding a ransom of ₦3 million for her release.
Christianah’s mother pleaded, stating she could only raise ₦350,000. Ayomide insisted she find more money. The military eventually tracked Christianah’s phone to Ayomide’s residence, where they apprehended him. He confessed to burying her in a shallow grave on his property. Today, the Army handed him over to the Lagos State Police.
Ayomide, known on Twitter as SK (which users have discovered stands for “Serial Killer”), has a disturbing history.
At 15, he raped a 14-year-old girl, leaving her in a coma. In 2018, he killed his first victim, his girlfriend, and buried her in his father’s compound when he was just 17. In 2020, he killed his sister and buried her as well.
On 19 August 2024, he kidnapped his friend Christianah, demanded a ransom, and despite receiving it, still killed and buried her in his compound.
Allegedly under 25, Ayomide’s actions remind us to be cautious about whom we befriend, especially on social media.
